Sun, Shades and 80 degree weather, here we come!
The 21st we got to the airport at 6am. Yuck is all I could say about that! The flight went great and Robyn is a wonderful traveler! I just love her! They lost our car seat so we had to brow one from the airlines. As soon as we arrived to Lisa's and Madison's apartment we were served southern bar-b-q! Holy crap was it good! We both must have gained 10 pounds just by eating everything in sight. Madison's parents and Katie and Kevin were already there. Spent the night at their place. All night long I couldn't figure out the flashing lights outside of the bedroom window, just thought everyone was running red lights! Turns out it was lighting, felt kinda silly about that one.
Our first day there, 22nd. We went to the Memphis fire museum. So cool!! Robyn loved getting dressed up and driving the fire truck! Checked out downtown Memphis and ate at BB King's restaurant (the best catfish around) Then we checked out the Civil Rights Museum. It's built around the hotel where Martin Luther King was
23rd, Tried to see the Slaveheavn House (Underground railroad) a bunch of school kids beat us to it. Instead, Lisa gave us the grand tour of Collierville and Germantown.
24TH Went to one of the top five zoos in the nation. Memphis zoo!! Robyn loved all the animals, except one. When you sit down in the cafe for lunch, you can see the monkeys. There is a male monkey that gets all up set when he sees another male hugging a female. We decided to test this out. Holding Robyn near the glass, Daris came and hugged us from behind. Well male monkey saw us and leaped from the other side of the living area and jumped right into the window. Robyn screamed and all of us jumped. So now Robyn hates monkeys. Mom and Dad arrived and we moved to the hotel. Super nice and glad we found it! Went to Arkansas for about 5 mins because I put the wrong address in the GPS. ;)
25th Wedding day!!!!!!! Lisa and Madison were married and had a lovely service and picked a great place to have pictures done. Went to PF Chang's for dinner. We went to bed early, we had a very long day!
26th. Daris and I decided to strike out on our own and check out the neighboring states. Mississippi here we come. Check out some really cool Civil War battlefields and went to a national park! Battle of Shiloh spans two states and you can learns tons and went on a cool tour. Saw the Tennessee river and the town on Jackson! We ended up meeting everyone downtown at the Peabody hotel to see the parade of the duck from the water fountain inside the hotel to the elevator. So cute and Robyn loved taking pictures and saying smile to the ducks.
27th Graceland!!!!!
Coolest place ever!! I really wasn't an Elvis fan before my visit to Graceland but now I am. I learned some of the coolest things about Elvis. Like did anyone know he had a twin? I didn't. We got to see the famous Jungle Room in the house and climb aboard the Lisa Marie! We checked out his great car collection! Finally made it to see the Slavehaven house. Called it an early night, that was we could be packed and ready for the plane.
28TH Nothing really to say about this day. Checked out of the hotel, turned in the rental car, check in on the flight, made it home!
Chilly, pants, no sun, rainy Washington :(
